So the big wedding party on Saturday went off with a bang. Nick looked super schmick in his dress suit and Kana was absolutely gorgeous in a very classy wedding dress. Mua turned out to be a fantastic venue, the staff were on the ball, the food was great, there was a nice mix of people there and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. All in all, it added up to a very special night.
Nick’s father made a great speech, at times reading from an advertisement for the JET Programme that mentioned that the gig was all about promoting “grass-roots internationalisation” and international understanding. Looking around at the newly-weds, both switching between English and Japanese as necessary, at the huge group of Nicks friends who’d come across from Perth and who were all busy drinking with Japanese friends of Nick and Kana’s and at the diverse mix of people around the room it’s pretty clear that it’s working on some level. It’s going to be great having Kana around in Perth and hope the transition is as smooth for her as it seemed to be for Nick when he moved here.
All my photos are here and there’s a flickr group for people to add photos to.
