Asleep at the back

The best summary I can think of for last week’s pomp and bullshit conference, courtesy of my co-worker at night school:

“Dan, what did you think of the mid-year conference?”
“It wasn’t as horrible as last year. The second day wasn’t too interesting though”
“Did you participate in the discusson session?”
“I had to speak on stage.”
“Oh, really. I think I must have been asleep then.”

This from a 40-plus teacher who practically never smiles, has short cropped hair ala. someone just out of boot camp, cordoroy pants and a tendency to tell students he’s surprised when they answer questions because he had previously assumed they were retarded. Which, going on the school, isn’t too bad a guess, but is still harsh.
