Lo-fi Scroller

Do CNNs new lo-fi titles (by UK firm Kemistry) indicate a long overdue move by broadcast media away from 3d bevels and overblown titles and back towards presenting information in the clearest possible fashion? We saw it happen on the web a few years back when cluttered framesets and information overkill started disappearing in favour of white space and open layouts. The most striking thing about this CNN redesign is how much it looks like the web. By floating the panels and clearing space around the centre, it takes the focus away from the text and puts it back on the moving pictures. You can see the talking heads again. It’s modular. It’s universal. It’s a step in the right direction.
