Here we go

Here we go … this is our time from the Australian.

FOR 208 days, the nation has waited for this. Tonight, at the Fritz-Walter Stadion in Kaiserslautern, Australia will come of age in the one truly global sport.

When the Socceroos run out to play Japan in their first World Cup finals match in 32 years, the nation will be watching, hoping, praying – and, thanks to two decades of sporting triumphs, expecting success.

Qualifying for the World Cup by beating Uruguay was one mountain to climb; reaching the second round in Germany will mean scaling another, much larger mountain.

Tonight promises to be a very, very exciting game between two young teams with little experience on the world stage. It’s going to be raw, intense and demanding. In short, one hell of a game to watch. Carn the green and gold.
