Kyoto by Night

The piano in the corner of the hotel lobby was playing classical music to itself; invisible fingers pressing the keys, as an invisible pianist toiled and sweated. I stood for a minute to watch, perplexed, before catching the girl at reception laughing at me as she spun a key around her finger. On a whim, I walked the five kilometres between Toji and Imadegawa, then turned around and came back again. The traffic was light, and the backstreets of Kyoto wide and empty. As I walked, I took some photos.
