Australia

Born to gaze into night skies,
When all you want’s one more Saturday.
Well look here, until then
They gonna buy your life’s time
So keep your wick in the air and your feet in the fetters
‘Til the day…
We come in doing cartwheels
We all crawl out by ourselves
And your shape on the dance floor
Will have me thinking such filth I’ll gouge my eyes.

Shoutouts

Loved the poem. You use of words to convey the feeling was astounding. I am not sure if you found the picture to go with the poem or the poem was written about the picture, but they were a great combination. Have you thought about publishing your work in more publications? If you have, where are some good ones? I have been trying to work on some of my own, but I have not been able to find places that a poet starting out could get a start. Any and all advice that you could give would totally be helpful to me. Also, did you get permission to work with the photo? Or did you take it yourself? If you had to get permission, how did you go about doing that? I know that if you do not get the proper permission, you could have some serious problems for legal reasons.

I wish I could claim to have written this, it’s the start of the second track off The Shin’s latest album, Wincing the Night Away, called Australia. I highly recommend checking it out, it’s got some beautiful imagery.

The photo is mine though – taken at Electraglide in Osaka.
