Kansai from Space

Check it out, a ridiculously huge photo of Kansai from space. Really interesting looking at places you know from wandering around on the groud from way, way up in the sky. Kobe is pretty much bang in the middle, with the coast down past Awaji island towards Akashi on the left and Osaka more to the right. The small cities of regional Hyogo stretch above and to the left and if you were to put Kyoto on the map it would be pretty much right above the top right corner.

It’s interesting to note that there’s just no gaps at all between Kobe and Osaka, it could basically be one huge city. Suzurandai is up and to the left of Kobe, behind the greenery of the mountains. I never realised quite how much reclaimed land there is around the Kansai basin, but basically all those islands are reclaimed land. Perhaps the most striking is Kansai Airport which is located down in the bottom right, a little south of Osaka.

10 bonus points for spotting our school.
