Needs tweezers

Every now and then I go through a period where writing anything feels like I am trying to painfully remove each individual word from my cerebrum. “I’m going to write something for the blog now, NRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH! Yes. Yes, write the words. GRRRRRRAAANNGGG. Yeeeeeesssss. Good brain.” By the end of the week, I’m left with all these badly written, half-finished blog posts about nothing in particular. Here’s one I prepared earlier:

Quiz night last night went down okay. The questions I felt good about pre-event felt decidedly average on the night, but the difficulty seemed about right. You wouldn’t have guessed it with the about of schtick we were getting though. This is normal but it’s interesting to be on the other end for a change. A bigger turnout would have been nice. Felt a bit shit about crashing the poor Japanese bartenders’ birthday party but hey, what can you do. At least they didn’t seem to upset about it, which made me feel like less of an utter bastard. At one stage of the evening, I tried to translate a question about Oligarchy into Japanese for them and, perhaps understandably, failed dismally. Woefully, even. Which is worse?

That seems to make a modicum of sense. It’s legible. Passable. With a bit of a spit-shine it wouldn’t seem out of place on the blog. But then I find stuff like this:

i don’t even know how i stand up there now

This leads to a number of pertinent questions: Why is this sitting in my writing queue? When did I write it? What is it about? Why don’t I remember it? Was I drunk? Who is standing up? For what purpose? What the fuck?

Obviously my cerebrum is rebelling. Tonight I shall endeavour to subdue it with the soothing tones of the Kings of Convenience followed by wild-boar kebabs and the outside possibility of locusts. MYSTERIOUS! DELICIOUS! RAMBUNCTIOUS!

Told you we should have gone with “plutocracy.”

I’m fairly certain the Decemberists don’t have a song about plutocrats though, and that would make Richard sad.
