Soundtrack (The earth is burning)

And I’m aching for you.

Today, for no reason other than I quite felt like it, I decided to listen to non-stop to Orbital until I either a.) exploded, or b.) ran out of Orbital to listen to. It’s been quite a ride so far. I’ve nodded my way through Snivilisation and kicked out the jams to In Sides. I’ve danced my way through Diversions and practiced my diction (and Doctor Who noises) with The Altogether.

Ah, I don’t like fresh air, it’s not good for the skin.

The Middle of Nowhere provided the soundtrack as the light outside the curtains faded, as the fridge compressor mixed with the synths and as the cold crept in under the door. As “Style” faded away, I pondered how to approach the colours.

Destructible. Suffers terror on the train.

The colours. Orbital’s big three. Blue, green and brown. I knew I’d leave the colours until last, and I think this was always a given. But the order provides a problem. Mix-taping with albums over songs. Blue will warm me up. Put me in the mood. It has to come first. Brown and, of course, Halcyon, must provide the wind down. It slots in to the third place. Kill Input Out. Set it to silence afterwards. Ensure the correct reverance is paid. Green is the meat. It soars and it grumbles. Is sporadic. Will sit comfortably in the middle. So, then, my order is decided.

From here until I explode, I’m in the care of the Hartnolls. I trust they will take good care of me.
