Planning for 47

I’m sure most of you are at least aware of the tale of the 47 Ronin, even if you don’t know the details. With the Christmas holidays coming up and with the success of the costume party last year, the Ako folks have decided to have another big do this december. We decided that to honour the 47 ronin (who come from Ako) we’d organise an event where people in teams of six dress up as Samurai and run to bars throughout Ako drinking their way through a list of 47 cocktails. The Nicks, Kanako, Keiko, Hiro and myself did a little test run this weekend to work out the route and fine-tune details. Happily to say it all went rather smashingly, if we have half as much fun in December it’s going to be an absolute blast.

The highlight of the evening was, without a doubt, having my hair fondled by a local yakuza who announced it was very soft and then proceeded to give me a sloppy kiss on the cheek. If only they made biker gangs that friendly.
