Buzz

My posting here has slowed a little recently, as I re-purpose the blog to focus on longer pieces, with less of the “oh my god that’s awesome” things I’ve jumped on in the past. For the day to day stuff, I’m loving Google Buzz for allowing me to spew links into the abyss. If you have GMail account and want a daily deluge of cool shit (like bears, or introverts, or children playing with yakuza) then click the button below to follow me. You’ll love it, I promise.

This is your decision

Pick One. While the decision between Celery and Cuddling was an easy one (Celery being the clear winner) I will admit I was stumped weighing up the relative merits of Lindsay Lohan and Fascism.

Malwebolence

An awesome article at the NTY on on-line trolling with reference to 4chan, Weeb and /b/tards:

Today the Internet is much more than esoteric discussion forums. It is a mass medium for defining who we are to ourselves and to others. Teenagers groom their MySpace profiles as intensely as their hair; escapists clock 50-hour weeks in virtual worlds, accumulating gold for their online avatars. Anyone seeking work or love can expect to be Googled. As our emotional investment in the Internet has grown, the stakes for trolling — for provoking strangers online — have risen. Trolling has evolved from ironic solo skit to vicious group hunt.

Some of the more creative trolling/griefing I’ve been directed to recently is the ROOMBA guys in TF2. The quiz questions part in particular is very well done, with mad props well deserved.

Homemade Sugared Almonds

Fourteen Passive-Aggressive Appetizers from the New Yorker:

Vegetarian friends? Try veggie rumaki: wrap a strip of imitation bacon around a water chestnut, spear with a toothpick, and broil—but instead of imitation bacon use real bacon, and instead of a water chestnut use veal.

Blank is like blank

Starbucks is like that crazy ex-girlfriend you still get together with: You hate yourself for going back, but the familiarity makes it convenient, and until you find something better, it’s all you’ve got.
